Happy NYFW!

It's like the olympics but fashion. I wore an Arc and Co cream blazer with gold buttons paired with an all black ensemble. I love these extra tight, extra skinny Cheap Monday Jeans. I can't even get over how high waisted they are! AMAZING! They are just what I need.

Topped the outfit off with this beautiful vintage jacket from my mother and a red leather satchel.

Posts are coming from the IvanaHelsinki show- Everything from Pre-show set up, backstage, when I interviewed Paola, the main designer and the show itself. Not to mention, coverage from the after party at their new flagship store, on Elizabeth Street! Great space.

Proper Studs

Everyone grows and evolves but we all have our personality. Studs will always hold a special place in my heart and if that means changing how they are incorporated in my wardrobe then so be it. This was my latest DIY project and I am in love with the results. This is a perfect combination of proper and the edgy feeling of studs.

Good morning Monday! I'm coming back from an awesome birthday weekend and diving into a busy week with classes, work and NYFW. I'll be interviewing the designer for IvanaHelsinki. Keep tuned for that. It will be great to see what is coming next for this designer.

I've been seeking comfort in my black skinnies and blazers. They are a great staple and I'm really not quite sure how I managed so long without a pair, since the previous saw their grave about a year ago.

Thank goodness another pair came to the rescue.

I have started searching for amazing vintage band T's but they are harder to find that I originally thought. All Saints is having some great post holiday season sales right now and this mens T-shirt caught my attention. It has the right worn out color and has super soft fabric as if its been washed a million and one times. I cant wait to create a good collection of these shirts and pair them with everything from my vintage levi shorts in summer time to dress pants and heels. Ohh, dichotomy.

Its going back to black for me. The simplicity and the statement that black makes is something that draws me in. I've come to realize that although I not boring in the way that I dress, I don't need all the frills, flashiness and the color wheel to express myself. Less can always do much more.

The are in for a make over.

We always seemed to use KIWI in my house.

Polish and Shine..

I just grabbed some fabric scraps to rub the polish in.

I am always changing how I want to focus my wardrobe based on my inspiration. Lately Im heading back to my monochromatic self, craving more blacks, creams and greys.

If I were to go shopping every time I had a change of heart about my closet...lets just say Id be more broke than a bum. Instead I look at what I have and see how I can alter it to be more of what Im wishing for.

Check out the haze! I was honestly running through clouds the other day. They hover just above the ground and its like you are in some magical wonderland.

I was able to hit Weekday in Malmö.

I settled on a couple pairs that will fill my desperate

need for jeans that fit like a glove.

I paired these with an h&m metallic sweater my parents gave me for christmas and

a knit hat my mom made.

Some of the best piece are the pieces that can transition from season to season. This Threadsence maxi dress is just that kind of piece. I started the summer wearing with a floppy hat and some studded sandals but as fall started coming along I threw a light knit over it. Now that its become much colder I've added a heavy knit sweater and a oversized scarf to keep the maxi dress in business. When the snow comes all that this dress with need is some wool tights, boots and a big jacket.

Its like a recycling program but for you own closet.

Count me in.

And for anyone who's wondering.. Yes I'm still quite infatuated with these Topshop animal print trousers. I will wear them till they die. I can safely say that I don't find any reason to wear clothes that don't make your heart flutter. This All Saints sweater had me from the moment I saw it on the hanger..Im still quite in love.

Scored this bow dress at the start of summer on a whim search through H&M.

I loved how it was fun and flirty but so easy to throw on.

It was about to be put away with the rest of my summer dresses but it started working with the transitioning weather. My favorite variation of this dress actually might be how I styled it for the cold weather with a chunky knit and nylons. I am definitely going to transition some more of my summer staples in the same way!

Its been a while since I did a 1x3 style post- so we're back with a new one!

Vintage Levi shorts are honestly one of my favorite pieces in my closet. Its the perfect mix of carefree summer, edge and chic at the same time. As you can see, I've styled them so many ways already here on the blog, not to mention all the times I have worn them without blogging.

The biggest plus about them is that they are high waisted. I don't think Ill ever get back to low rise fits. High waisted anything is so much more flattering.

Had a lovely lady date with Kate this weekend. Between thrifting and finding amazing Vietnamese food we shot these quick when the light was JUST perfect. This weekend's weather was just what everyone needed. I love the sun and warm weather and if the weather decided never to change.. I would not complain!

These Kimchi Blue pants are my new go-to when I want to look put together but very comfortable. They have been a favorite for those Monday mornings that seem to come a little too fast after the weekend.

NYFW: IVANA HELSINKI SS2012: The Runway Coverage

Ivana Helsinki is the only Scandinavian designer to be included in the NYFW lineup.

It has been a pleasure to have been a photographer for the designer both during Copenhagen fashion week and numerous NYFW. Each collection just keeps getting better and better. This collection had a feeling of wearability and applicability that I haven't seen before with Ivana Helsinki's collections. There was a wonderful balance between the girl next door and the girl you cant stop looking at. The statement looks exude a confidence every girl wants to have. Paola does a good job incorporating her Finnish influences but still keeping the pieces modern and chic.

Personally my favorite look was the printed T shirt with the shorts. It definitely sets the tone for a summer adventure by the beach. To see more check out www.ivanahelsinki.com

Walking the streets

Some of my favorite moments are just walking around in the cities that I love. Its pretty much a tie between Copenhagen and New York City. I might be leaning more toward Copenhagen just because I know it so well and in NYC..well lets just say thankfully I always have a trusty guide with me.

Its just a perfect day when its sunny and you can stop by places, grab a coffee and people watch.

This outfit really just happened out of thin air and I liked the bohemian feel to it. Its usually not where my style tends to lean toward but its my version. Remember when I told you this skirt would translate perfectly into fall? I wrote an article about this for RI Style Magazine, out now!

Here is a quick sneak peak at the post I am putting together.

I had the privilege to be one of the photographers for the Ivan Helsinki show on friday.

It was wonderful to talk with Paola, the head designer and founder.

You can tell she is here because of her love of the art and nothing else.

I have covered numerous of her other shows and honestly she just keeps getting better and better.

Ghost Valley

Its been a little while but here is the latest design! This dress definitely took its time to come together but I really like the final product. The focus was to create a balance between femininity and a more alternative edgy look. The purity of this fabric is wonderful but the frayed hemlines and leather strap suggest an unexpected toughness.

I wore this with my jean studded jacket (another project of mine-will blog it soon!) when I was a photographer for the IVANAhelsinki show at NYFW on friday. Photos covering the show are coming soon too! The lead designer was such a genuine woman to speak with- none of those fashion cliches applicable, only a true passionate for the art.

Spending summers last weekend by the beach. I wish summer would last forever.

One of my favorite feelings is after you soak up the rays during the day, shower and then put on some of your favorite light summer clothes. I went for everything that Im in love with right now. We've already had the discussion about my obsessions with my vintage Levi's but this Threadsence blouse has me crazy. Its amazingly light but still works for cooler nights and I can wear it with anything. Im taking shorts, skirts, pants and over dresses. I might need to stock up on some more like this so I dont kill this one by over wearing it. I hate that- When you love something so much and you wear it all the time and before you know it, it looks so worn out and sad. Worst feeling ever. But back to me wearing everything Im in love with. I scored these Calico Sunnies, in my faaavorite green color, after a shoot a couple weekends ago. Working with Elissa is nothing short of hilarious. Lastly- how sIIIck is my silver knuckle ring? Also scored from Calico after the shoot.

Check out this Threadsence Maxi dress! I love the way it folds over in the back and man, this dress is super comfortable. It was perfect for walking all over the city in the sticky heat. It is great in the summer but Im already thinking about how great of a layering piece this dress will be when it comes fall or winter. Think boots, knit sweaters and flowy blouses.

Some pieces of clothing actually make you feel something inside. They make your heart flutter.

Now, Im on a mission to not wear such loose fitting tops (I am a sucker for comfort and cuteness in one piece..) but when I spotted this Free People tunic I knew that I'd have to throw the mission out the window. You can't ignore love.

I wore this tunic over my Kimchi Shorts to keep things under wraps while biking around Boston.

I have to be honest, I never thought I would wear skirts that fall around my calves but I love exploring new styles and honestly- like I've said before- I feel like such a lady!

People are always saying "well I could never pull that off" when they see something they love but it is not something they would usually wear. The way I see it, if you just WEAR the gosh darn thing..you are "pulling it off"- so go ahead and wear what you love.

You can pull anything off.

This past weekend I around Providence taking photographs for a project due this week.

When wearing my photographer shoes I need to wearing something I can move around in and get in funky positions.

I added my favorite sandals and some red rouge to this classic outfit. Folu took advantage of the hot hot heat to rock some sheer. We could not finish up the work day without a smoothie from Juniper...

We snagged a couple pictures this morning. It was really pretty with the sun and the haze.

Still pretty tired..my double cappuccino hadn't hit me yet.. but it was already pretty hot so I wanted nothing else but to throw on a loose tank and my already favorite vintage Levi shorts.

Happy forth of July weekend! Ive skipped town and headed down towards the beach.

Its so nice to just soak up some sun and really feel summer. I finally got a tan!!

After months of searching I finally found the PERFECT destroyed vintage Levi's shorts.

Peerrrfectioon!

I paired them with a flowy Kirra top, BC sandals and the chambray Marc by Marc cross bag.

Another thing I've been looking at for months before finally deciding.

I'm in love with it!

This weekend has been crazy crazy between running, planning for my next project, putting in wood floors and taking a quick break down to the cape! But when its summer...I always have so much more energy to do everything! Before heading to the beach I grabbed my favorite h&m bow dress and paired it with this fedora I might have posted a few months ago and these sam edelman sandals.

Oh summer..why cant it just always be summer??

Just had one of the loveliest weekends! Despite the coldness I did lots of exploring in Boston, ate a lot of random food and had sporadic games of scrabble. On one of our random adventures we snapped these pictures. Im wearing an h&m bow print dress with my BC woven sandals.

I accessorized it with a vintage chain link bracelet, a brass cuff watch face bracelet (that I snagged at the Providence art festival), a gifted gold bracelet and also a gifted Swatch watch. Its the perfect shade of salmon!

It was so chilly that I threw on my Kirra crochet sweater and shawl. This Kirra sweater has a asymmetrical hemline. It dips lower in the back and side.

The boy threw on a wide neck shirt and stripped linen shorts from club monaco and an All Sons jacket. And of course, always the signature Vans.

Im finally posting one of my favorite pieces! My best friend brought this leather Zara tank from Belgium earlier this year. Its perfectly soft and boxy. I paired it with my Vila shorts from Copenhagen and my new BC sandals. These sandals were exactly what I had dreamed up as the perfect sandal for this summer.. and then I actually found them! How crazy!

Oh and if you walk like a horse in your blog pictures like I do..know Im right there with ya! haha

I also just stocked up Queen of Hearts with a bunch of my new summer pieces!

Super comfy and practical but you can always be practical-chic right? I paired my C&S T with my infamous Topshop trousers, Zara boots and my nuevo Juicy sunglasses. I posted about them earlier on and well...I had feel to hard for them to let them slip away.

I wear this tree pendant all the time and I stuck one of my favorite fortunes in!

I wore this outfit when I was styling at the Calico shoot last weekend. These h&m pants are so bright that they can brighten up my mood instantly! I paired them with my Kirra tank and Deena and Ozzy sandals that I re-laced with some white lace to make them super girly! They make me feel so light and summery.

Cant wait for the hot hot summer heat!

Hopped around town today in this gifted thrifted top. The floral print on this is KilleR! My friend kate has a knack for finding the cheapest treasures! I paired it with these light corduroy skinnies, Chelsea boots and vintage clutch. I cant wait to start pairing this top with jean shorts, skirts.... anything!

Here is the Jungle dress that I just finished up!

It was a challenge project but Im happy with how the back came out and how the hemline curves up at the sides. It was a tight squeeze finishing up..I finished right before I had to put it on and head out! It was super comfortable to wear and hey, it was nice to be wearing something that no one else could be wearing!

I wore the dress with a Marie-Louise clutch and Aldo wedges. Love them!

1X3: Nude Leather

It goes without saying that if I love something, Ill wear it till I and everyone else around me, is blue in the face from seeing it. It will be a long time before that happens to me with this H&M nude suede and leather jacket. It was one of those pieces that you spot and know its has the key to your wardrobe.

It keeps the edge that anything made of leather gives while not being so gothic as a black leather jacket.

Now don't get me wrong, I had a black leather jacket that I loved dearly at one point but hey..we all move on at some point, right? Im just not that into wearing black at all anymore..

I also took all the pictures used for the articles (sans cover though). It was so much fun running around Providence hunting down the material for the articles. I did a number of articles for the "Whats hot" section, did a recap from when I photographed for Providence Style Week and also a "Personal Style" section which featured some street photography.

Spent a nice Saturday in the sun. Ive been trying to get rid of the black clothes in my closet and when I found this pale pink leather and suede jacket- it was just the thing I needed to help me do that.

Nothing like a staple piece in the right color range. It helps change everything in the right direction.
