Jumping Rooftops

Old and unexpected. You know those items that you bought long long ago and only wore them here or there but then a few years later they become one of your staple items? I got this studded belt years ago and Ive always loved it but it didnt get out much. As you may have definitely gets some use now! Its definitely a go-to item for me.
Cheap and thrifty. You know those items that you buy for a bargain and end up wearing it as if it were really expensive and you were making sure to get your moneys worth? This blouse has been worn so many times and has saved me in so many "I dont know what to wear" situations and I paid less than $3 for it!
I feel that items like these are the things that define my style for certain periods so much more than a pair of stunning heels or dress that I only wear a few times...
To all my readers- thanks for the amazing response on the last post- everyone seemed to really love it! Again..the cheap and thrifty wins!

Human Architecture

I could be a undercover detective in this over dimensioned dress. The skirt section has such dramatic angles and space that I could be hiding things in it..and you would never know! ha
Found this dress a while back for really cheap..but it was a size too small so I finally got around to fixing the back so the zipper would actually have a chance at closing without needing another person. One of the few drawback to living alone is that the zippers, back buttons and hooks have to be all one-person proof.
If anyones in need of a new ready made playlist- check out here. Its fulfilled my need for new music for the past couple weeks.
And the dress that I made last weekend- I promise Ill post it soon! Just been to busy fighting with my bipolar sewing machine while working on another dress..

This week ran away from me! At least something's running..definitely not me in these heels. It takes practice walking on coble stone and biking in these lace up delights. These amazing danish women who can bike anywhere, in any weather, in anything! Its fashion meeting practicality perfectly. Or just fashion learning to ride a bike.

After reading a lot of blog entries saying things like "I just havent found the right occasion to wear it.." Ive come to the conclusion that you dont really need an excuse to wear anything. If you like it- wear it, if you want to - its reason enough. I wore this dress for a 21st celebration a while back and its just been dragged around the world without being worn. It always seemed too formal but with a sweater and some converse it seemed just perfect.
Cant wait to show you my new sewing projects!!

New Heights

I think the perfect way to describe life with new shoes is by Paolo Nutini's song "New Shoes."
Hey, I put some new shoes on,
And suddenly everything is right
I said, hey, I put some new shoes on and everybody's smiling
Its so inviting,
Oh short on money but long on time
Slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine
And Im running late
And I dont need an excuse
Cause Im wearing my brand new shoes
Woke Up late on Thursday
And Im seeing stars as Im rubbing my eyes
And I felt like there were two days missing
As I focused on the time
And I made my way to the kitchen
But I had to stop from the shock of what I found
A room full of all off my friends dancing round and round
And I thought hello new shoes
Bye bye blues

Sometimes to really start anew a physical change can really help..a haircut, a new perfume, a new playlist, a day off or... new shoes! Whats your favorite thing to do when starting anew?

Bright Lights

When your closet isn't miles deep its really important that things are versatile. This tank top is actually a dress but it also doubled as the perfect beach cover up on my Swedish adventure this weekend. And just to rub in how versatile this oufit was for me- I was able to throw it on at 6am, be comfortable on the train and bus rides, hike up a mountain, hang out at the beach, have a sit down dinner and play some "garden party games". Beat that!

Geek in the Pink

Yeah yeah yeah im back in black again..its hard to break the habit! Ill keep working on it..
I have amazing news-my big silver ring is back! Whats even better is the story..
About a week before I left for Dk we had a guest over for dinner and the salad is my department. After a while we notice the ring has disappeared and from then on it was gone. We joked that it melted in the carrot cake.. over a month later my dad finds an old lettuce head at the back of the fridge- and he finds my ring in it!! I know its kind of scary how long things can go unnoticed in our fridge but thats besides the point.
This skirt was a gift from my mama and it made me really think about the things that I buy when I shop. This isnt something I would have picked up on my own but Ive fallen in love with it. This two layer, cutout, snake print/tie-dye thing somehow works. It made me think that sometimes we have to think outside of our own little fashion boxes. So open those lids of yours and try something totally not you.
All the feedback is amazing! Love you all :) Still working on getting these pictures bigger- so if you want to see the details just click on them!

Summer Fling

There are so many good things about summer- it should always be summer! I can think of so many things that make it the best time of year-but Im sure you can make your own lists too.
When the weathers hot it really forces us to develop a simpler style. Its the perfect time to cleanse ourselves and shift back to some basics- making our styles more deliberate.
I found this dress accidentially and its destined to be one of my staple pieces this season because it can be dressed up and down. I wore dancing this past saturday but I can see it at the beach, work, concerts, cafes and the usual adventures.
Oh, and I got a hair cut- by me! I cut 2.5 inches off AND added in layers.
p.s- If anyone knows how to make the pictures bigger- please help me out!!

Orange you glad I didnt say Banana

When days have lists as long as Santa's, simple outfits are a must. My style is usually pretty girly so it was fun to do a simple more masculine outfit.
Its really something to notice how your own style is influenced by the place your in and the people around you. One of the biggest things I always notice when Im living in Copenhagen is how the womens style seems to have a different mentality. (Not to mention how men here also really know how to dress!) The idea of beautiful or feminine has less to do with exposure but rather creativity or uniqueness. The range of acceptable styles is so much greater. You can fully embody a style without feeling like you are loosing your femininity- say head to toe mens wear. Its very liberating.

The Start of Something

Hello July! I feel like summer is finally starting..its warm, the suns out, beach visits, done traveling and work starts soon. Oh, and its time for smoothies again :)
But it means that anything that resembles winter has to be pushed to the back of the closet. Its so nice to have an excuse to really change things up. So after this post, unless the weathers being lame and im in dire need for warm clothes, its summer things only.
I have a couple goals for these two months of summer. First, Im going to try to move away from black. Its so safe and honestly its getting boring. I do have a couple things that ill still wear but on the no. Second, Im going to have more time now so Im going to try to post pretty regularly. So keep checking back.
Also Im updating my blogroll- if you want in put your whole link in the comment area :)
